Interim Pastor Position Available

image.jpeg    New Light Metropolitan Community Church (NLMCC) is deliberately striving to be the passionately authentic spiritual presence of Christ in the world excluding no one.

Located in Hagerstown, Maryland NLMCC is a church in the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Church (UFMCC). We are seeking a part-time pastor to be the spiritual and administrative leader of the church and shall work in a spirit of cooperation with the Board of Directors and lay leaders. Brook Lane CEO speaks at HARC meeting

Brook Lane hosted and presented the program for HARC’s April meeting in recognition of their 75th anniversary year. CEO Jeffery O’Neal shared a snapshot of the history of Brook Lane as well as new and expanded programs offered now.  Founded by the Mennonite Church in 1949, Brook Lane is western Maryland’s largest, non-profit mental health system. The main campus in Hagerstown is home to the second largest freestanding psychiatric hospital in the state, serving children, adolescents, and adults.  Watch the recording

Person-Centered Spiritual Visitation Training (2024)

The goal of Person-Centered Spiritual Visitation Training is the development of personal confidence in the visitation ministry. Specific objectives are:

  • To become aware of oneself as a minister and of the ways one’s ministry affects people.
  • To utilize proper infectious control measures to ensure the health and safety of patients and themselves.
  • To become aware of the strengths and resources of one’s religious tradition and how that impacts another person.
  • To understand and utilize the clinical method of learning.
  • To learn to utilize support, confrontation, and clarification for the integration of personal attributes and pastoral functioning.
  • To understand the theological issues arising from experience and to enhance the interface between theology and the behavioral sciences in understanding the human condition.
  • To become aware of how one’s attitudes, values, and assumptions affect one’s ministry.
  • To develop the ability to work as a pastoral member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • To become aware of how social conditions and structures affect the lives of others and oneself.

Associate Minister Position Available – First Christian Church Hagerstown

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Minister curates a community of youth and adults who have fun sharing church. The Associate Minister resources mission ministries of our congregation. Annually, the Associate
Minister develops a ministry out of their passion for serving Jesus and the community. The
Associate Minister will share worship, pastoral and teaching opportunities with the Senior Minister
on a scheduled frequency.

If you wish to give a free-will offering to New Light MCC’s future ministry in the community it would be welcomed but not required.

Zion seeking child caregivers for April 5 & 6

Zion Reformed United Church of Christ is having a strategic planning visioning event April 5 from 5:30-9:30 pm and April 6 from 8:45-3 pm.  They want all of their members engaged in this process and are seeking caregivers from other houses of worship to care for the children during this process.  Caregivers will be paid for their service.  If interested, contact Pastor Scott Winnette at pastorwinnette@gmail.com or call the church office at (301) 739-7244.

Celebrate Recovery is moving back Downtown

The Celebrate Recovery program is moving back downtown to Trinity Lutheran Church starting the first Friday in April. The program meets every Friday night from 7-9 pm and all are welcome. Celebrate Recovery is a nation-wide Christ-centered recovery program based on the Beatitudes, and Celebrate Recovery Hagerstown is a ministry of Celebration Ministries. The purposes of Celebrate Recovery are to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery Principles. On March 6th, we’re hosting a free webcast where we’ll share some of our findings and learn from a panel of guest experts.
