SUMMARY:Faith-Based Awareness Briefing
DESCRIPTION:Faith-based leaders and partners\, \nAs a country\, we’ve all too often witnessed attacks on houses of worship. The January 15\, 2022\, hostage incident at the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue in Colleyville\, Texas\, not only serves as a stark reminder of that\, but it also highlights the importance of working together to mitigate these attacks and being proactive in keeping our houses of worship safe. The FBI Baltimore Field Office and our resident agencies frequently connect with our faith-based communities.  We want to reiterate our commitment to working with you\, or partners\, to keep our communities safe. \nThe FBI Baltimore Field Office would like to invite faith-based leaders in Delaware and Maryland to a virtual Faith-Based Awareness Briefing on Thursday\, March 31\, 2022\, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET..  FBI Baltimore leadership will discuss international/domestic terrorism\, hate crimes\, victim services\, and crisis response\, highlighting resources and important considerations should an incident occur. The briefings will be followed by a question-and-answer session. \nRegistration is open now through 5:00 p.m.\, March 25\, 2022 (extended date).  Given that our Microsoft Teams guest access has a limitation of participants\, please register only one person at a time.  To register complete the online form: https://forms.fbi.gov/fbi-baltimore-faith-based-awareness-briefing. \nPlease forward this invitation to other faith-based leaders throughout your communities and/or to your individual denomination leaders. Questions may be directed to FBI Baltimore Community Outreach at community_outreach_b@fbi.gov. \nWe look forward to connecting with you to discuss these important topics. \n  \nMarvella Gray\nCommunity Outreach Specialist\nDiversity and Inclusion Coordinator\nFBI Baltimore Field Office\n2600 Lord Baltimore Drive\nBaltimore\, Maryland 21244\nDesk:  410-277-6289  ~  Fax:  410-277-6677\nEmail:  mgray@fbi.gov and Community_Outreach_B@FBI.GOV \n“Working for a Safer Tomorrow”

SUMMARY:HARC Meeting: ACEs Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) affect the mental and physical health of children into adulthood\, and are at the root of many health and social problems in our community.  ACEs are common and preventable\, and houses of worship/people of faith can play a unique role in reducing ACEs and building resilience in both children and adults. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn:\n~ About the landmark CDC/Kaiser Permanente ACEs epidemiological study that proved the impact of ACEs\, and a little of the neuroscience to support it\n~ Strategies to prevent ACEs and protect children against the impact of ACEs\n~ How to deal with challenging behaviors\n~ What you can do to build resilience and promote healing in children and adults \nKathy Powderly\, ACE Master Trainer\, will present an interactive workshop.  David Washington\, Peer Support Specialist with the Washington County Health Department\, will offer a follow-up program opportunity for faith leaders to take into their congregations. \nWe are excited to offer this workshop in person with Grace United Methodist Church as our host congregation.  We will also offer a Zoom option for virtual participation.  The meeting will begin at 1:00 to allow for participants to eat before they come and we expect it to go a full two hours to allow time for an effective workshop.  Please wear a mask.  Please RSVP (required for Zoom participation). \n————————————————————————– \nHARC meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month\, except July and August\, with an occasional evening meeting.  During COVID our meetings have been starting at 1:00 to give time for lunch prior to the meeting; when it’s safe to eat\, the start time is 12:30.  When meeting in-person\, the location typically rotates among different houses of faith\, giving each member congregation an opportunity to host. If in-person meetings are deemed unsafe for our members\, they are held on Zoom.
