SUMMARY:HARC Meeting: “Dialogue that Enlarges: Bridging ideological divides through a faith lens"
DESCRIPTION:What role does the faith community have in civic life? Can the faith community provide a good model for achieving constructive engagement across differences? \nAs part of The Season For Nonviolence\, HARC is offering this program — which is based on the “Better Arguments Project” framework — to encourage participants to think about the influence of faith and spirituality as they seek to engage in constructive discourse with those of differing views. It will also provide tools to decrease both verbal and physical violence and promote peace. \nConflict is a natural part of the human experience. HARC’s goal is to practice this framework with faith leaders so you can take the resource back to your congregations and community groups. For more information on the Better Arguments Project\, visit www.betterarguments.org. \nThank you to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church for hosting and providing the meal.  Join us for lunch and fellowship\, sharing of our host’s faith tradition\, followed by the program. RSVP requested by Friday\, February 10 at noon so we can get a count for lunch. \n \n————————————————————————– \nHARC meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month for lunch\, except July and August\, with an occasional evening meeting.  When meeting in-person\, the location typically rotates among different houses of faith\, giving different congregations and organizations an opportunity to host.  If in-person meetings are decided to be unsafe for our members\, they will be held on Zoom.

SUMMARY:HARC Monthly Meeting: Racial Bias
DESCRIPTION:HARC’s June meeting will focus on racial bias.  We will hear about personal experiences with bias here and now in Washington County\, leading into small group discussions about bias. Come with an open mind and heart\, ready to learn and share!  We will also have a time of fellowship and lunch.  Please bring your own lunch. \nWe will meet in person at Church of Christ at Hagerstown’s outdoor pavilion.  Please RSVP so we have an idea of how many people to expect and can space tables accordingly. \nThis meeting will not be streamed to Facebook due to the sensitive nature of the topic and personal sharing. \n—————————– \nHARC meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 12:30 pm\, except July and August\, with an occasional evening meeting. When meeting in-person\, the location typically rotates among different houses of faith\, giving each member congregation an opportunity to host. If in-person meetings are deemed unsafe for our members\, they are held on Zoom.
